Re: YMCA at Baxter

This is a great Y - water park for the kids & all. Tuesday tends to be a really busy night in the gym upstairs - almost all of the cardio machines are taken and the weight machines are being used by two people in rotation at any given time. Rest of the nights are pretty open. Enjoy the classes - great instructors abound!

Re: YMCA at Baxter

The Y is great!  It's one of the largest (and in my opinion), one of the best Y facilities around.  Lots of classes, an indoor pool, an outdoor waterpark during the summer, free child care for parents while they exercise, special programming for middle school students, racket ball courts, basketball courts and camps for youngsters,  etc.  And they have a plan for expansion as growth continues!  We've been Y members for a long time, and as Baxter residents, we were thrilled when the new facility opened last year.

Re: YMCA at Baxter

I enjoy the Baxter YMCA but continue to be disappointed and perplexed with their hours of operation.  Closing at 6:00 PM on a Saturday and Sunday is incredibly frustrating and even closing at 9:30 PM during the weekdays is problematic for those who work and want to see their families before going to the gym.  For the price of a membership I find myself for the first time seeking other opportunities in the area.  Other YMCA's I've belonged to in other parts of the country have had much more competitive hours that are friendly to the working family class.
